Acceptable Use Policy
The rules that keep the Service fast, lawful and fair for everyone who uses it.
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) forms part of the Terms of Service between you and InsideMaps Bulgaria EOOD (“StatusDNS”, “we”). It applies to every use of statusdns.com, the tools, monitoring and the API, whether or not you hold an account. Capitalised terms have the meaning given in the Terms.
1. Permitted Use
- Checking, monitoring and troubleshooting domains, host names, IP addresses and mail systems that you own, manage or have a legitimate interest in — including those of your employer, your clients (with their knowledge) or vendors you are evaluating.
- Using the record generators to prepare records for domains you administer.
- Analysing email headers and DMARC reports that were addressed to you or your organisation.
- Integrating the API into your own internal tools within your Plan quota.
- Sharing Results with your team and clients.
All checks use publicly available data (DNS, RDAP/WHOIS, public web and mail endpoints, public blacklist zones). The Service never asks for, and you must never submit, credentials to third-party systems.
2. Prohibited Use
You must not use the Service, directly or through the API, to:
- attack, overload, flood or probe any system — including using the SMTP, HTTP, ping, port or traceroute tools as part of reconnaissance for an attack, or running them at a volume or frequency intended to disrupt a target;
- facilitate spam, phishing, malware distribution, domain hijacking or any other abuse — for example using blacklist checks to “test” spamming infrastructure;
- perform automated mass scanning, enumeration or data harvesting of domains you have no legitimate interest in, or scrape, crawl or mirror statusdns.com or its Results;
- circumvent rate limits, quotas, caching, authentication or other technical controls, including by rotating IP addresses or accounts, or by creating multiple free accounts to multiply limits;
- share, publish, sell or lend API keys or account credentials, or resell the Service or Results as your own product without a written partner agreement;
- submit content that is illegal, infringes third-party rights, or contains malware;
- attempt to access, tamper with or disrupt other customers’ accounts or data, the Service’s infrastructure, or its security controls;
- impersonate StatusDNS or misrepresent Results as an independent audit, certification or endorsement;
- use the Service in breach of any applicable law, sanction or regulation.
3. Monitoring and Enforcement
We monitor aggregate usage patterns, rate-limit counters and abuse signals (for example unusual query volumes, many distinct target domains from one source, or reports from third parties) to protect the Service. We may, at our discretion and where possible with notice: throttle or block traffic, remove monitored domains, revoke API keys, suspend or terminate accounts, withhold refunds under the Refund Policy, and — where required — report unlawful activity to the competent authorities. Repeated or serious breaches are a material breach of the Terms of Service.
4. Reporting Abuse
If you believe the Service is being used against your systems or in breach of this AUP, or you have a complaint about content on statusdns.com, email [email protected] with the subject “Abuse report”, including the target domain or IP, timestamps and any log excerpts. We acknowledge abuse reports within one Business Day (Mon–Fri 09:00–18:00 EET) and act on substantiated reports promptly.
5. Changes and Contact
We may update this AUP as the Service and abuse patterns evolve; the version and “Last updated” date appear at the top. Questions: [email protected] · InsideMaps Bulgaria EOOD, Graf Ignatiev St 44-A, fl. 4, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria.
