Platform & API License Agreement
The end-user licence for the StatusDNS web application, diagnostic tools, record generators, monitoring features and JSON API.
This Platform & API License Agreement (the “Licence”) is a binding agreement between you (“you”, the “Licensee”) and InsideMaps Bulgaria EOOD (“StatusDNS”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the StatusDNS software-as-a-service platform, its tools, monitoring features, generated records, documentation and JSON API (together the “Platform”).
It applies in addition to our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy and Refund Policy. If this Licence conflicts with the Terms of Service, the Terms prevail for the commercial relationship (plans, payment, termination) and this Licence prevails for licence scope, restrictions and ownership of Results.
1. Definitions
- “Platform” — the statusdns.com web application, the diagnostic tools and record generators, monitoring and alerting, the JSON API at
/api/v1, the documentation and any updates. - “Plan” — the Free plan or paid subscription tier that defines your limits (Terms of Service, Section 2).
- “Input” — domain names, host names, IP addresses, DNS records, selectors, uploaded DMARC reports, raw records or email headers and any other data you submit.
- “Results” — checks, statuses, scores, tables, reports, alerts, JSON responses and generated DNS records produced by the Platform from your Input.
- “Authorised User” — you, or where you are an organisation, an employee or contractor you permit to use your account within the team-member limit of your Plan.
- “API Key” — a bearer credential issued from your account for programmatic access.
2. Licence Grant
2.1 Subject to your continuing compliance with this Licence and the Terms of Service, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence, for the term of your Plan, to access and use the Platform through its web interface and API for your own internal business purposes and for services you provide to your own clients (for example agency or MSP reporting), within the limits of your Plan.
2.2 The Platform is provided as a hosted service. Nothing in this Licence entitles you to a copy of the software, its source code or its data sets.
2.3 Authorised Users may use the account on your behalf; you remain responsible for their compliance.
3. Restrictions
You may not, and may not permit anyone to:
- copy, scrape, crawl, mirror or bulk-download the website, tool pages, documentation or Results other than through the API within your quota;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code, scoring rules or data sources of the Platform, except to the limited extent permitted by mandatory law;
- resell, sublicense, rent or otherwise provide the Platform or Results to third parties as a standalone or competing lookup, monitoring or reputation service, or use Results to build or train a competing product, without a written partner agreement with us;
- circumvent, disable or overload rate limits, quotas, caching, authentication, CSRF protection or any other technical control;
- share, publish or embed API Keys in client-side code or with third parties;
- use the Platform against systems you are not authorised to check — although the Platform only uses publicly available data, you must have a legitimate interest in every domain, host or IP you submit (see the Acceptable Use Policy);
- remove or obscure any proprietary notice, or misrepresent Results as an independent audit or certification;
- use the Platform in a way that violates any law, sanction, or third-party right.
4. Intellectual Property Ownership
4.1 All right, title and interest in the Platform — including its software, DNS/SMTP/HTTP/RDAP clients, recursive resolver configuration, scoring logic, blacklist lists, documentation, design, trademarks and brand — remain the exclusive property of InsideMaps Bulgaria EOOD or its licensors. You receive only the licence in Section 2; all other rights are reserved.
4.2 Feedback you provide may be used by us without restriction or attribution.
5. Your Inputs and Results
5.1 Inputs. You retain all rights you have in your Input. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process Input solely to operate the Platform, produce Results, provide support and keep the Platform secure.
5.2 Results. Subject to this Licence, you may use, store, reproduce and share Results for your own purposes, including in reports you deliver to your clients, in internal dashboards and in tickets. Attribution to StatusDNS is welcome but not required. Results are not unique to you: the same Input produces the same or similar Results for any user.
5.3 Generated records and keys. Records produced by the generators are yours to publish; you are responsible for reviewing them first. DKIM private keys generated on request are returned to you once and are not retained by us.
5.4 Responsibility. You are responsible for the lawfulness of your Input and for any action you take on the basis of Results. Results are a diagnostic aid, not a guarantee (Terms of Service, Section 6).
6. Third-Party Components and Data Sources
6.1 Results are computed from data obtained at query time from third parties: authoritative DNS servers, mail and web servers, certificate chains, DNS-blacklist operators (for example Spamhaus, SpamCop, SURBL, URIBL), RDAP and WHOIS registries, and public resolvers. Their data is subject to their own terms; in particular, many blacklist operators prohibit commercial bulk querying of their zones without a licence, which is why your use is limited to your Plan quota and to domains you have a legitimate interest in.
6.2 The Platform includes open-source software governed by its own licences; a list is available on request. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy or terms of third-party services except as required by law.
7. Updates and Changes to the Platform
We may add, modify, deprecate or remove tools, checks, scoring rules, API endpoints and fields at any time to keep the Platform accurate, secure and useful. Breaking changes to documented API endpoints are announced on the changelog at least 30 days in advance where reasonably practicable. Updates are subject to this Licence unless accompanied by separate terms.
8. Compliance with Laws
You must comply with all laws applicable to your use of the Platform, including data-protection, computer-misuse, export-control and sanctions laws of the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States. You may not use the Platform if you are located in, or are a national of, a jurisdiction subject to comprehensive EU, UK or US sanctions, or if you are a sanctioned person.
9. Term and Termination
9.1 This Licence is effective from your first use of the Platform and continues while you hold an account.
9.2 It terminates automatically when your account is closed or terminated under the Terms of Service, and we may terminate it immediately on breach of Sections 3 or 8.
9.3 On termination your right to access the Platform ends and API Keys stop working. Sections 4, 5.2 (for Results already delivered), 10, 11, 12 and 15 survive.
10. Warranty Disclaimer
Except as expressly stated in the Terms of Service and to the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform and Results are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation. Consumers keep all non-waivable statutory warranties.
11. Limitation of Liability
The limitations and exclusions of liability in Section 13 of the Terms of Service apply to this Licence, including the cap of the fees paid in the preceding 12 months (or EUR 100 for Free and Trial users) and the exclusion of indirect and consequential loss, always subject to mandatory law.
12. Indemnification
If you are not a consumer, you will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your Input, your use of Results, your breach of this Licence or your unlawful use of the Platform, as set out in Section 14 of the Terms of Service.
13. Privacy
Our processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy; business customers are additionally covered by the Data Processing Addendum.
14. Changes to This Licence
We may update this Licence with at least 14 days’ notice by email to account holders and on this page, except where a change is required by law or to protect security, in which case it may take effect immediately. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
15. General
Governing law, jurisdiction, consumer rights, assignment, severability, notices and language are as set out in Sections 18–21 of the Terms of Service. This Licence, the Terms of Service and the documents they reference are the entire agreement regarding the Platform.
